All students enrolled at Heatley Secondary College have access to a free GP clinic which opened on July 20, 2022.
The clinic is staffed by Dr Megan Arlett, a General Practitioner (GP) and a clinical nurse who join us from Townsville & Suburban Medical Practice where they work on the other days of the week.
Dr Megan provides students with many of the same services that GPs in the community do, including management of physical health, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health issues. Dr Megan does not however provide emergency care, manage significant injuries, perform excisions or keep medications on school premises. Only those students enrolled at Heatley Secondary College will be able to access healthcare in our school's clinic.
