STEM girl power initiative

The STEM Girl Power initiative is a year-long program which aims to engage students who are passionate about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and demonstrate the qualities or potential to become a STEM ambassador.

The program begins with an on online event, coinciding with the annual World Science Festival in Brisbane before the STEM Girl Power Camp which takes place in Term 2. School principals may nominate one Year 9 student to participate in the following year, when the student is in Year 10.

The focus of the camp is to encourage more women into the STEM field and develop their understanding of STEM and its importance to our society, as well as their leadership, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication skills. Students take part in a variety of events over the course of 4 days, including innovative science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workshops in addition to networking opportunities with experts and inspiring role models from a diverse range of fields.

Visit the STEM Girl Power page or contact stem@qed.qld.gov.au for more information.
