School-Based Youth Health Nurse

​​The School-based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) is a Queensland Clinical Nurse position, who's role is to provide individual, group and class health consultations with assessment, support, health literacy and referral options related to promoting health and wellbeing with a "whole school approach". The aim is to support the development of a healthy school environment addressing psychosocial, medical, sexual health, sexuality issues, health surveillance and risk-taking behaviours.

The SBYHN also provides students with health information and promotes enhanced personal skill development offering health promotion strategies and health literacy. Psychological concerns, particularly​ in youth, include drugs and alcohol, abuse, family conflict and/or abuse, sexual and reproductive health, social and isolation issues and nutritional advice.

Our SBYHN, Tania works Monday and Tuesday at the college and her office is located in the Guidance Officer rooms in C Block.
