School-based Youth Health Nurse

​​​​​​​The School-based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) is a Queensland Clinical Nurse position, who's role is to provide individual, group and class health consultations with assessment, support, health literacy and referral options related to promoting health and wellbeing with a "whole school approach". The aim is to support the development of a healthy school environment addressing psychosocial, medical, sexual health, sexuality issues, health surveillance and risk-taking behaviours.

The SBYHN also provides students with health information and promotes enhanced personal skill development offering health promotion strategies and health literacy. Psychological concerns, particularly​ in youth, include drugs and alcohol, abuse, family conflict and/or abuse, sexual and reproductive health, social and isolation issues and nutritional advice.

Our SBYHN Michelle, works from the Guidance Officer rooms in C Block on Tuesday from 8.30am - 3.00pm and Wednesday from 8.30am - 4.30pm.
